Here’s a word of advice, bullies are everywhere! Yup, you read it correctly and that will always be true. So here are some ways to stand up to bullies. First, you should tell someone and tell the bully to stop. Next, if that doesn’t work, you should try to ignore the bully as much as possible (which includes staying away from the bully). And if the bully is just too annoying and rude that you just can’t handle it, you should tell an adult with more power and ask them to get the bully away from you. Now that you know the steps to handle bullies, I hope any problems you have with bullies will be taken care of.

PEMDAS

This week in math we mainly learned about parenthesis. Then we learned about PEMDAS, or the order of operations. PEMDAS mean parenthesis, exponents, multiply, divide, add, subtract. In math, you do what is in the parenthesis first. After parenthesis, you look for exponents which are smaller numbers in size. After those two, you look for a multiplication or a division sign. Finally, you solve addition and subtraction. In our class we came up with sayings to remember PEMDAS. My saying was “Please Excuse My Daughter Annabelle Spick”. The most common know saying is “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally”.

WELCOME BACK!

Welcome back to Mrs. Rosen's fifth grade class! We've started this year off with a mission. By mission, I don't mean superheroes. I mean the steps you take to be a superhero. In the photo you can see our amazing class working on personal mission statements. This is part of setting goals for ourselves. We've also made a time capsule to see how much we have improved over time. With our school now being A.V.I.D. we get to learn new ways to organize and be responsible. I hope you come visit our blog again soon!

THANK YOU FOOD CORPS!

Our class would like to give a great big thank you to Allison! Allison works with Food Corps and she provided monthly hands-on lessons and activities related to gardening, healthy eating, native plants, and local culture. Some of the favorite treats that the students made and tasted were: sauteed brussel sprouts, energy balls, veggies roll ups, herb flavored popcorn, and mequite flour pancakes. We are so thankful to have had these engaging learning experiences in fifth grade!
