Our first experiment in science was, “What paper towel will absorb the most water?”  We had 4 different brands of paper towels and we did this by holding a paper towel over the bucket and then we fill the syringe 35 ml. high and then squirt it on the paper towel. And the last step is to stop when the first drop hits the bottom of the bucket.

In science we learned about evaporation, solutions, and saturation. We have done some experiments with those things. We have added so much salt, the water can't take it anymore. This is called saturation. We have done kosher salt dissolving into water and we have done Epsom salt dissolving into water. We know that saturation is when no more substance will dissolve into the liquid. We also know that evaporation is when liquid turns into gas. And solution is a mixture of more than one substance where one substance dissolves in the other substance.

We students in Mrs. Rosen’s class show hard work and
responsibility. We run laps each morning to stay healthy and fit.
It is also a competition because our class tries to run as many miles
as we can against Mrs.Avila and Mrs. Magan. I enjoy running
laps and many others do.
We also have P.E. every other day. We have Band or Art the days
that are not P.E. In Mrs. Rosen's class we also have advanced
math and regular math for fifth grade students. We also have
science or history towards the end of the school day. We have
science in Mrs. Rosen's class and history in Mrs. Avila’s class.

Here’s a word of advice, bullies are everywhere! Yup, you read it correctly and that will always be true. So here are some ways to stand up to bullies. First, you should tell someone and tell the bully to stop. Next, if that doesn’t work, you should try to ignore the bully as much as possible (which includes staying away from the bully). And if the bully is just too annoying and rude that you just can’t handle it, you should tell an adult with more power and ask them to get the bully away from you. Now that you know the steps to handle bullies, I hope any problems you have with bullies will be taken care of.

PEMDAS

This week in math we mainly learned about parenthesis. Then we learned about PEMDAS, or the order of operations. PEMDAS mean parenthesis, exponents, multiply, divide, add, subtract. In math, you do what is in the parenthesis first. After parenthesis, you look for exponents which are smaller numbers in size. After those two, you look for a multiplication or a division sign. Finally, you solve addition and subtraction. In our class we came up with sayings to remember PEMDAS. My saying was “Please Excuse My Daughter Annabelle Spick”. The most common know saying is “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally”.
